If you were asking just about any golfer “the way to spin a ball”, they would almost certainly suppose you were discussing backspin. Grasping the way to put sufficient Backspin on a Ball will at minimum manipulate your golf ball the way it hits the green, and when you’re particularly proficient at it you’ll be able to make the ball reverse its direction and come back toward you. That skill could turn out to be useful with a close pin placement, since you will be in a position to get the golf ball closer even as your shot will have more margin for error.
However more often we should think of golf ball spin to form the ball in the direction we would like it to go. This of course came in handy for Bubba Watson at the 2012 Masters, when on their sudden death hole he was required to knock the ball out of trees, then quickly hook it so it had a possible opportunity to get to the green. Like we are aware he made a remarkable shot under pressure, advancing it to the green and then winning the tournament on that hole.
Lacking the capability to shape the ball left-to-right (Watson is left-handed) and hook it just the correct amount, he probably would have lost the tournament on that hole. The explanation why he and any golfer can form the ball in any path is, needless to say, having the ability to spin the golf ball. And a lot like putting backspin to a golf ball, it generally involves practice and technique. However when we observe our ball slice or hook out of bounds, we have either put excessive spin with the golf ball or spun it too much by accident. Then we have to figure on how to Fix a Golf Slice.
A small number of golfers may knock the ball a good distance and hit it absolutely straight consistently, however very few. With the majority of golfers the natural swing is likely to be a little inside-out, creating a draw, or outside-in, producing a fade. If you try to get too precise and attempt hitting the ball in a straight line, most of the time you’ll not achieve perfection and it’ll shape, or spin come what may. One of the most disconcerting things which will happen to a player is never knowing which direction the ball will spin. This leaves him small margin for error when lining the shot up.
So at the practice range; decide whether you want your golf ball to draw or to fade. Then proceed through the subsequent list:
1. Grip. Provided you would like to spin the ball to generate a draw, use a powerful grip to help you maintain the clubface slightly closed at ball impact. 2. Alignment with the feet. To generate a draw of the ball, close the stance slightly. This will maintain a swing path which goes starting inside the golf ball to outer through impact.3. Shoulder position. For generating a draw, keep the front shoulder from opening, keeping your clubface progressing through the ball longer through impact.
Clearly, to generate golf ball spin that will trigger the ball to fade, do the exact opposite of the above. Shaping the ball left or right merely means spinning it clockwise or counterclockwise and only a small amount of spin is needed to successfully shape the ball left or right.
